Nuclear threats on Twitter? Check. An alleged criminal as president? Check. Natural disasters everywhere we look? Check. If you think that 2017.Sucks, you’re certainly not alone. It’s been a rocky 12 months and many folks are ringing their hands and longing for it to all be over.

President Trump’s Impeachment. With the Russia investigation coming to a head—and Michael Flynn’s recent guilty plea—we might finally get President Chump out of the White House for good. Trump.Sucks and we, for one, can’t wait to see the door hit him on his way out.

Another Royal Wedding. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged and are set to be married in May of 2018. Watching a real life Cinderella story unfold is the perfect mood booster. Time to don a plastic tiara and host a watch-along party.
Nigeria Makes it to the Winter Olympics. This African nation has never competed in the winter games before now. 2018 will see powerhouse trio Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere make their winter Olympics debut as Nigeria’s first women’s bobsled team.
Virtual Reality Shopping. It’s no secret that virtual reality has been making waves with its potential for e-commerce applications. Advancements in the technology means that “V-Commerce” may be going mainstream sooner than we think. NotAllTech.Sucks and we’re excited to see what comes next.
The U.S. is Once Again Reaching For the Stars. On December 11, President Trump formally directed NASA to focus on sending American astronauts back to the moon and eventually on to Mars. While no specific date has been set for achieving this feat, Elon Musk’s SpaceX is planning to send two tourists on a trip around the Moon by the end of 2018, making them the first humans beyond low-Earth orbit since 1972.

Marvel’s Black Panther is Coming Out. And we can’t wait. Black Panther was the first superhero of color introduced into the mainstream comic world with his debut in a 1966 issue of ‘Fantastic Four’. He made his first appearance in the current run of live action films for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’, and will be getting his own film next year. And it’s about time. Finally, a superhero movie whose main male lead isn’t a white dude named Chris.

A New Hollywood Takes Shape. Thanks to the #MeToo campaign, Hollywood has been gutted of many of its long time abusers and creeps. We’re excited to see what a new generation of filmmakers and content creators have in store for us.
Australian LGBTQ Weddings Galore. After a national plebiscite revealed that the majority of the Australian public is in favor of same sex marriage, the Australian Parliament finally voted to legalize same sex marriage. Now, Australia is flush with couples excited to recite their vows in 2018. Discrimination.Sucks and the affirmative vote in Australia is just another win for equality for all.

2017 wasn’t so hot. Actually, it downright sucked. It’s time to wipe the slate clean and prepare for a new year. There’s plenty to look forward to and, hey, 2018 can’t possibly be any worse than the last 12 months. It can only go up from here!
